LASUSTECH Fee Hike: Management Reduces Certificate fee

Safiu Kehinde The management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (formerly Lagos State Polytechnic) has finally reduced the increased certificate fee from #30,000 to #10,000 after several backlash from the Polytechnic students in the institution over the controversial increment. As contained in a statement signed by the University's registrar, David Semawon Ogunbe, the management decided to review the sudden 500 percent increment following complaints tendered by the Polytechnic’s Students Union Government and the intervention of the Vice Chancellor who submitted that the increment should not be more than 100 percent of the initial amount. The statement read in part; “Sequel to the complaint expressed by the Students Union Government of the Polytechnic in a letter dated 24th June, 2023 on the increase in Certificate Processing fee from N5.000 ( Five Thousand Naira) only to N30.000 (Thirty Thousand Naira) only and the intervention of the Vice Chancellor,

Ikorodu City Wins first FA.CUP

Ikorodu City defeated Smart City Football club 2-0 in an intriguing game to emerge winners of the oldest cup competition in the state. Each of them have specific periods assigned for their celebration by their devotees. The most popular and prominent of them is the celebration of the Agbo Remireke diety. TEENAGE BROTHERS DOCKED OVER ALLEGED RAPE OF MINOR.

The brothers, Solomon Nweze,18years and Solomon Swaruna,20years were arraigned on a three-count charge of sexual inducement, defilement and rape. During the hearing, the Investigating Police Officer Inspector Adeshina Olamilekan said the defendants lured the victim (name withheld) on her way back from school to their residence at ojokoro village, Agric Ikorodu, Lagos State where they forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in turns. He said The unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor is contrary to and punishable under the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015. The defendants however pleaded not guilty,stressing that the victim was just a familiar face in the neighborhood. The chief Magistrate, P.A Osuji ordered the defendants be remanded in prison custody pending further investigation. The
